BIOGRAPHY

Rigel Chan is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at UMass Chan Medical School, where his research focuses on uncovering the genetic causes of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s. He leads a laboratory that combines computational and experimental biology to model disease mechanisms using advanced in-vitro systems.

Rigel’s current work uses CRISPR-based techniques to explore therapeutic gene targets by infecting cerebral organoids with herpes simplex virus, offering new insights into Alzheimer’s pathology and potential treatment strategies.
